Late Sri Magunta Subbarama Reddy then M.P., a charitable person concern for the youth prompted him to start the M.S.R Degree College, Kavali in the year 1993 along with 16 Junior and 3 Degree Colleges in his constituency. Believing that education was the second birth of man and that true education would prepare him to face the challenges of life. Sri Magunta Subbarama Reddy strove to elevate the intellectual level of the youth through his colleges. To carry out his mission the recommend educationist Sri T.Venka Reddy a retired I.A.S. officer has been appointed as adviser to the college.

Smt.Magunta Parvathamma is a former MLA of the Congress Party from Kavali Assembly constituency in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. She is wife of former MP from Ongole and noted industrialist late Magunta Subbarami Reddy. Parvathamma contested and won from Kavali constituency in 2004 Assembly Elections.

Sri Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy (born 15 October 1953) is a member of the 15th Lok Sabha of India. He represents the Ongole constituency of Andhra Pradesh and is a member of the Indian National Congress. He was previously elected for the 12th and 14th Lok Sabha from the same constituency.
